I stopped by Sino Shop again this weekend to check out this all female graffiti exposition showcasing some local talent and some from afar. As always, Sino Shop provided a great venue for over 16 artists displaying a few pieces by each ranging from small handstyle pieces to mixed media, to larger, more elaborate pieces and works on canvass. Some of these ladies are also designers in clothing, toys, and jewelery so there were several boxed displays of shoes and related signature items. Again, the prices ranged from $20 to $250 depending on the size, type, and quality of the pieces or items. The mixture of graff-art, mixed media, and designed items (shoes, toys, jewelery, etc.) made for a nice presentation along with some solid beats by NYC Dj, Desim.
The event was definitely a success as the shop was packed with both the artists and interested onlookers enjoying the music and the art. Unfortunately, at some point during the evening the area around Sino Shop got bombed by late night graffers pretty bad. This left Sino in a tight spot to uphold his integrity to his neighbors. To make an example of their actions he canceled the show that could have gone for the whole month of March. The organizers and artists believe is not the solution and have started an online petition to bring to Sino in hopes of persuading him to seek another solution to the matter.
Here are some pics from opening night to get an idea of some of the stuff they had goin' on:
And here's is a list of the participating writers/artists and some links to their sites if the show doesn't get back up and your interested in seeing what else they do:

These ladies and the organizers put some hard work and money into the event, the first all female graffiti art exhibition in Montreal, so if you want to show support for the event, the artists, and the shop then go here and sign the wall. If this show gets back up then I recommend you go check it out at the Sino Shop at 2817 Ontario street.
